K-Dramas 2015
*yawn* Good Morning!
I like to multi task as I watch my dramas because I have a short attention span, so I decided to type this out. And also because I have nothing else to watch, so if you're a K-drama fan too, recommend me something nice! 🙋🏻 It's a recap of my most memorable dramas of 2015, I guess, and it's going to be sooo lengthy because I can go on and on forever about my favourites, so I wonder if anybody will read this. 😂

Somehow there are always a lot of dramas during the school term that I desperately want to watch, and when it's the holidays, the number of good dramas trickle down to nothing. I must admit I'm more "shallow" when it comes to dramas; I like a good-looking main couple, and more bonus points if there are eyecandies in the supporting characters. That said, even if everyone is good-looking, a boring storyline is a no-go 🙅🏻 like Dream High 2.

Scholar Who Walks The Night

I finished watching Scholar just this week, despite having all the downloaded episodes in my computer for months. When it was first released I followed it religiously every week, watching the two episodes the moment they were subbed (and sometimes even before). I hate waiting for new episodes! I've always liked Lee Jun Ki in sageuks (Arang & The Magistrate!) and add to the mix the cross dressing Yang Sun (Lee Yu Bi), and vampires, and I was sold.

I liked the characters most in this show. I may have even liked Crown Prince Yoon (Chang Min) more than Sung Yeol (Lee Jun Ki) at the start. Thank goodness there wasn't much love rivalry, I hate those. Plus, Gwi (Lee Soo Hyuk) was a character that really struck me. It was such a cheesy character with cringe-worthy lines, but it was delivered so well! [SPOILER ALERT] He was the antagonist, and yet I felt pity for him when he accidentally killed the Queen and was all broken when he realized.
The plotline itself...well. It was enough to keep me watching until the end, but honestly it went around in circles, we never got answers to why some people turned into vamps and some stayed dead, and the amazing "Secret Plan" they spent most of the episodes agonizing over turned out to be something they threw away and decided not to use almost immediately. They sort of ended up using it, but still. I would recommend this for the acting, not the plotline!
Oh My Venus

I really like OMV so far! Though I personally wish I could meet a hot personal trainer who brings me to a house with 3 handsome men who attempt to help me lose weight, I guess I'll have to make do with watching the drama, and doing my own blogilates workouts on my yoga mat in the living room. #realityvsdrama
This show is still airing, but so far so good. The scenes are funny when they're meant to be, and a lot of raunchy dialogue with secondary meanings, LOL. Plus, So Ji Sub and Shin Mina 👍🏻

Yes, where can I sign up for these personal trainers? Jiwoong (Henry) is so quirky and adorable in this show, and Joon Sung (Sung Hoon)'s scenes with the actress who's his fan kill me every time. So. Cute. I even went to Google him and watch his web drama. This show is not without its cliches: ex-boyfriend who had an affair yet still can't seem to stop caring about her, and frenemy who stole the boyfriend, who was coincidentally the obese one when they were younger.
Still, it's worth a try if you haven't seen it yet. Handsome/pretty and absolutely adorable main stars ✔️ Many abs scenes ✔️ Cliche yet engaging storyline ✔️ Plus everybody struggles with weight issues right? I can connect so much with the heroine because I struggle daily with my weight too 😂 in fact, watching this show inspired me to jog faster and longer during my thrice-weekly jogs this week, so... Watching K-dramas can be beneficial, yeah.

I think one of my favourite things about OMV is that it really strikes clearly that while Joo Eun (Shin Mina) did let herself go in terms of appearance, her plucky personality remained, which was what Young Ho (So Ji Sub) was attracted to, and what made the other two guys look up to her as their noona. Whereas Soo Jin (frenemy who stole the bf) used to be grossly obese but is devastatingly hot now, and yet she still can't get the guy (ex-BF) she wants, who still can't let go of Joo Eun.
It's a nice reminder that inner beauty shines through a physical appearance.

Oh My Ghostess: filled with cute hijinks, and kudos to Park Bo Young for her portrayal of two different characters, though the cuteness of the show kind of tapered to a point where I just gave up watching. I still have about 2 episodes.
Blood: I think the general response to this show wasn't that great, but I liked it. It showed vampirism as a viral infection which the Bio geek in me loved. I thought the main leads were adorable, but, come on, the ending. What's with endings these days?

Warm and Cozy: was... indeed warm, but also filled with much unneeded angst. Still, it was entertaining and cute, and the side plot lines were hilarious as well.
High Society: had the makings of a typical candy-chaebol plot, except the guy's the poor one. By the second episode, I was hankering for more of the second supporting couple's scenes rather than the main couple. I'm not sure what that says about this show; I think I just didn't really care what happened to the main characters. 😌

Noble, My Love

NML is a web drama that's 20 episodes, 15 minutes each. I've not watched a web drama before, and I actually quite like the concept of bite-sized episodes! It's just right for those times when I just want a quick drama fix. Anyway NML is the typical Candy-Chaebol plot line, filled with every single cliche plotline in Dramaland, complete with contractual relationship and all, which makes it perfect for a brainless drama fix! I like!
Lee Kang Hoon (Sung Hoon) is the controlling, rude chaebol (very Christian Grey-esque) and Cha Yoon Seo (Kim Jae Kyung) is the typical cheerful girl who's somehow magically cute and adorable no matter what. Sounds so familiar right? Anyway despite the cliches the couple was really cute together, plus, come on, there's Sung Hoon. 😉 I recommend this if you're a sucker for angsty candy-chaebol stories like me!
Healer

Now, this. They say save the best for the last, because this was THE BEST. Definitely. 100%. I must have watched it at least 3 times, and repeated my favourite scenes many more times. I even downloaded the OST. Any other Healer fans out there? 🙋🏻 I love how it has other amazing aspects besides the romance; in fact, the romance wasn't overwhelming, and balanced nicely with the murder they were trying to solve.

When I first watched Ji Chang Wook in Smile, Donghae, my reaction was: mehh. I was not impressed and I didn't like that show hahaha. It was a love-hate thing: I didn't like it but still watched it on Channel U everyday LOL. Then I watched Empress Ki, and my opinion changed completely. And after Healer... 😍 I would watch it just to see Ji Chang Wook in his action scenes. I'm not even a fan of action! His acting of the ridiculous Bong Soo was hilarious. And I've always liked Park Min Young!

I even drew and posted Fanart on my Instagram (@/itsheyzelnut) but I made Ji Chang Wook really ugly with my low level drawing skills 😂 I think the bottom line is that I LOVED this drama (if you couldn't already tell), the chemistry between the leads was sizzling, the storyline was surprisingly very interesting (I normally dislike these action/revenge/murder stories), the OST was really good, and ok just go watch it already hahaha.
Ok end of my long and boring drama post, if you read until here 😂 I'm heading out today to buy more things that I need for my Taiwan trip and also meet my bestie for a quick catch up! We're going to Dazzling Cafe if the queue isn't too bad. ✌🏻️ hopefully there will be no queue!
EDIT: forgot all about She Was Pretty until @briannawonggg reminded me! I can't believe I forgot it haha I loved it almost as much as Healer. I think it's my second favourite show of the year, right behind Healer.
Also it's raining (AGAIN), my bestie postponed our meetup by an hour, and I'm stuck in the house because the wind and rain is crazy, so I shall update my K-drama list.

She Was Pretty

I was watching this before lessons, after lessons, during class breaks, and I even influenced my friend to watch it too. (She watched 13 episodes in like two days, and that was during semester time.) If that's not a sign that it's a good drama, I don't know what is. I really like Park Seo Joon as an actor, and he has the good looks to boot, so I knew I had to watch this drama. Plus the premise of lost good looks and promised humour was too good to miss!

I think one of the best things about this show was that the best friend Hari knew when she had done wrong and when to back off, which meant no unnecessary angst and frustration. 👍🏻 Also, my heart breaks for Shin Hyuk (Choi Si Won) who technically was the only one who saw "Jackson" for who she was at the start (too bad he acted like everything was a joke). His acting chops really shone through, I think it's really not easy to portray such a silly character without cringing on the inside.

I don't know how he stays so devastatingly handsome while acting like a goon. 😍 [SPOILER ALERT] I also really like how he was revealed to be TEN, and the sacrifice he made to push Most to the top. Honestly I was betting on him being the chairman's son, and the Chief Editor being TEN (Korean ahjumma in her 40s, they kept dropping that line!). It was a very nice twist, and Choi Si Won all cleaned up as TEN makes for a very dapper image. I like! Please go watch this if you haven't already!
