Boston Day 2: Lobster Rolls & Whales

Post jog face: SHAG.
I just went for a 3.7 km jog with the guys (many thanks for slowing down to match my pace) around the neighbourhood. It feels so good to be able to run again after so many days of overloading on calories!
Going to shower, then maybe play bridge if they want to, and update on today's activities.

The Airbnb bathroom has really nice bright white lights that I like a lot!
Anyway while jogging just now we passed by an accident scene on the road... I could see the poor victim lying on the road, and the ambulance came and all. π° I hope it wasn't anything too serious!
Our neighbourhood in East Boston seems like a very safe place to jog in!

We started this morning with a microwaved sandwich (sausage, egg, cheese) from a shop that's something like our 7-11. I've forgotten the name!

The sunlight here is too gorgeous to not take selfies in the morning, especially when the rays of light illuminate the hair from behind.

Living the white picket fence dreams. This was my Instagram shot.
The photo is taken right outside our Airbnb! All the houses in this neighbourhood stand individually and look different so it's a picturesque mish-mash of eclectic looking little houses. I love it.

I wish we could stay in this neighbourhood longer! But sadly we don't have that much time in Boston.

Passed by a gorgeous clock tower on the way to the wharf and had an encounter where we saw a circle of the 12 Chinese zodiacs and I thought the tiger was a pig that looked like a bear, and A and I thought the rooster was an unicorn. Well. π

The view from the wharf where we were waiting before boarding our whale watching tour!

The most exciting thing for today: WHALE WATCHING.
I was so excited for this! The excitement was very real.
It took almost 2 hours to reach the whales, and if you want to be leaning off the railing, wear many layers. I was wearing a thin knit, denim jacket and black skinnies, and I was freezing my ass off. The wind was so strong that I literally could not feel my face. Don't wear dresses - because strong gales and skirts don't go well together.

One of the whales came SO CLOSE that its blowhole sprayed water all over the boat and created a lovely little rainbow. It only lasted for about 2 seconds but it was a magical moment.
Unfortunately there were too many people and I couldn't get a good photo. πͺ I wish people wouldn't point (just shoot with their cameras) their hands around because their limbs get into all the shots of the people behind.

Look how close it came! What a majestic creature.

I took SO MANY shots and only managed one tail shot. The whales were shy with their tails!
I really enjoyed myself but please be prepared for the jostling and pushing whenever there's a whale sighting, because obviously everyone wants a photo. Run as fast as you can to the spot whenever a whale sighting is announced at whatever o'clock!
We paid USD49 for this tour from Boston Harbor Cruises.

Recently my feed's been nothing but blue skies and seas.

Then we tried lobster rolls! This is my first time eating lobster roll and it was the best thing I've ever eaten.
Ok I might have exaggerated but... The lobster was fresh and juicy, the mayo went with it perfectly, and the buns were toasted and warm. I savored every bite and when it was gone, my heart clamoured for more.
And this from someone who normally doesn't eat seafood.

Just look at those lobster chunks. Oh my goodness me. I want more!

A photo of the shop!
There are minimal tables inside so you'll have to carry your rolls on a tray to the picnic tables outside to eat. The sun can get pretty merciless though.

We walked to Christopher Columbus Garden... To catch Pokemon. π
But there's a gorgeous lattice walkway featuring one of the guys LOL.

So pretty!

Yet another photo of the sea and skies.
Notable quotes from our trip so far
"#roadto100kg" - used whenever someone eats, pretty self explanatory.
"Where?", followed by the reply "Neh."
- Our top question asked to one of the guys and his signature reply (without even pointing to where it is. π
"Thank you.", followed by "You're welcome." In a sarcastic voice. (Because everyone here says that.)
"Siiiaaoooo" which is now Jolene's catchphrase.

Today's hilarious moment (this might be hilarious to me only and not you guys but I'm documenting it so I can look back and laugh someday).
Me: is that shop called Harriet?
S from behind: No, it's Ritz Market. How can you even see that wrongly?
Me: I'm sorry I don't have your LASIK vision...
S: But you're wearing contacts so isn't that the same?
Me: No it's not I still get blurry vision.
S: But we have the same vision now!
Me: OK why am I getting scolded for this?! SORRY for misreading!

Then later on when we saw the 12 zodiac statues in Boston, A and I had a major bimbotic moment when we thought the rooster was a unicorn. In our defense it was the back view and it really looked like one.
A: Omg is that a unicorn?
Me: Omg? YES? Unicorn!
S: ... ... ... That's... A rooster...
*stunned silence*
A: Ok la the back view looks like a unicorn.
Me: Ya, see here?
S: Different people have different levels of visual perception.

A: Oh, so you think you're better than us?
S: YA, at least in this aspect.
And at the harbour, I heard something he said wrongly.
S: How can you hear it wrongly?
Me: Stop scolding me already! It's not my fault that your aural perceptions are worse than your visual ones.
S: You mean aural pronunciations right? But nice try.
OMG I can never win. π

Dinner at Faneuil Hall Marketplace!
The clam chowder was so good we couldn't stop nodding our heads as we ate. Too damned good! Boston, you'll make me fat.
