New York Day 3

Today's face. Tried out Beau Brun on the lips but it's really really red and doesn't last at all. I hate retouching lipsticks and I didn't bring it out with me either. πͺ#FOTD #dayrebeauty

We are watching Phantom of the Opera later!

En route to our breakfast place this morning! There were tons of photo worthy locations.
The guys played Pokemon while I took my photos.

We saw this building with a portrait on it, and we spent ages taking photos with it. It's really hard to take photos in NY because there's always some photobomber in the photo with you!

Our (or rather mine, because my friends don't necessarily eat things just for the good shot) goal of the day - Rainbow Bagels!
You order and tell the server your name. Basically a bagel + toppings. Somehow my name got warped to Elissa/Melissa, so I didn't answer the first time he called. He had to shout my order before I responded. π

Happy girl with my Strawberry Cream Cheese Rainbow Bagel! This cost $7.05 USD and was huge.
It doesn't look so huge when you order it, but when you actually eat it...
I don't normally eat cream cheese, but for this... Thankfully their cream cheese tasted just like strawberry cream!
My friends had the egg and cheese bagel and we all agreed that one bagel should be shared between 2 people.

Look at this gorgeous bagel. π

Then we took a trip into Manhattan because we wanted to check out the TKTS Times Square Booth for Phantom tickets. The TKTS booth sells tickets at a discounted price so it's a good idea to check it out.
I read online that it's a scam because someone paid $75 whereas the person next to her paid $79 for the same seat at the ticketing booth right before the show, so technically she only saved $4.
But hey savings is still savings I guess! No harm in checking out the booth.

Somewhere near Times Square!

We paid $90 USD for Orchestra seats, about 15 rows up from the orchestra, at a 40% discount. The show was at Majestic Theatre.
I've never been so close to the stage before. I could literally see every small detail, from the monkey music box to the bejeweled costumes.
In Singapore, that price would get me a seat all the way at the back.

Even though I've watched it before... No regrets watching it again. I love the story, the music, everything. I can almost memorise every song. π

Had to take a photo to commemorate!
The photos are all very dark; somehow it happens when I transfer photos from my camera to the phone. But I'm lazy to edit each and every one.

Then we headed to Central Park! This is Belvedere Castle, a miniature castle built in the park.

The dappled sunlight is real, guys.

It took SO long to get this shot because people kept stopping at the castle and leaning against it. I always figure that when you're at a tourist attraction, you shouldn't stand near it.

Look at those skies!

Some pretty flowers I spotted on my walk...

And a quote on the benches that made us go "aww".

Yes, annoying children who spent 10 whole minutes climbing this. I gave up on trying to wait for them to come down so that I could snap a photo with nobody in it. Stay away from the attractions! Nobody likes photobombers.

Duckies on a really clear pond.

The Bethesda Fountain.

We had a rare chance to get an empty spot! So we hurriedly rushed to snap some photos before people step back into the frame.

The view from Belvedere Castle is beyond magical.

I love how all the water bodies reflect the sky so clearly.
There were Chinese masseuses trying to get tourists to get a massage for 5 minutes and they're pretty aggressive so it's best to steer clear.

Shake Shack for dinner!

Portobello Mushroom burger and Chicken burger with a side of fries.
The burgers were good! But I don't see the huge hype about them. I think Macs in Singapore is stepping up their game too much.

LOL I asked one of the guys to help us take a photo and one of the others snapped this photo and sent it to our group chat with the caption "the sad guy behind all Instagram photos".
Props to all Instagram husbands/boyfriends out there! π

One thing that irks me off is that the trains here come so infrequently, and there's no sign saying what time they will even come. Plus the map is crazily complicated and it's easy to get onto the wrong train.
This makes me really miss Singapore's transport system.
