New York Day 4

Good morning! Back to straight hair for me.

Currently waiting for my pancakes! So excited to be here.

Train is stuck because the train ahead of us has brake problems and we can't move until it's resolved. 😞

(My friend is staring directly at my phone so that I don't write anything bad about her.)

If you thought Singapore's train break downs were bad... 🤔

Our first stop of the day! We went out pretty late today, around 11-ish.

There's a branch in Singapore, but hey, why not check out the original NY branch?

We waited around 10-20 minutes before getting a seat!

The Warm Maple Butter Pancakes with Chocolate ($14).

These were so good - dense yet fluffy at the same time, and gloriously slathered in chocolate and maple butter.

I suggest eating only one pancake per person though, because any more than one makes it overly cloying.

The guys' Eggs Benedict. Stole a bite from them and boy was it good. I think I could have finished it all. They decided to be strategic and ordered 3 items for 3 of them, but only 1 carb (pancakes) so that they could try more things yet not be overly stuffed.

And this. This. I like pancakes, but I find that the older I get, the less I like sweet things.

This was the Spanish Scramble, egg stuffed with tomatoes, sausage, spring onions and finished off with sourdough toast and hash. It was so, so good. I loved it.

Side note though I saw a family of 3 with a toddler who ordered 2 sets of pancakes and 1 egg dish and I wonder how they intended to finish that. 😳

Anyway one thing to note is that since we were in a group of 6, Clinton Street Baking Co automatically added the gratuity into the total amount paid, so we didn't need to add in any extra tips unless we wanted to.

The total bill came up to $95 USD for the 6 of us for 5 items, after tax and the gratuity.

And they say Singapore is a "fine" city... Just look at this sign. 😂

Then we took a trip to the Brooklyn Bridge! Typical touristy things where we take a train for ages and walk in the hot sun just to snap a couple of photos before leaving. This is why my trip plan only had food places in it. 😅

Commercial break from updating about my day because we are at a train station and I haven't transferred my camera photos over yet.

Bought the ABH liquid lipstick in Dusty Rose a couple of days ago because the swatch on my hand looked fantastically dusty-nude.

It actually darkens a LOT once applied on the lips and dried. It settles into all the fine lines but isn't too uncomfortable. It's kiss-proof but transfers after eating.

This is how it looks like!

The shade is actually a dark, mauve shade. It's not too unwearable, and I quite like it. This cost me around $21.50 USD after tax! Pricey, but well...

New York is filled with lots of gorgeous buildings, and I often spam too many photos without knowing what the buildings are.

The sun was merciless today. I thought it was Fall but apparently it's still Summer. The sun burns but it's not humid.

This is Manhattan Bridge (according to my exchange friend aka tour guide).

We went to Wall Street next.

Sometimes I don't understand the purpose of sight seeing because it's literally just "oh ok here's a building let's take a photo of it". 😅 But I guess since I already flew such a distance, I might as well take some photos.

This is the New York Stock Exchange.

Like this Paul Revere statue... I've heard of him before but I've no idea what it means.

It was pretty cool to see this!

Next stop was a desserts place for cookie shots!

You got that right - COOKIE SHOTS. Can we get that again? Cookie. Shots.

(But really though the older I get, the less I like sweet things. This is still worth a try though).

We also had a Raspberry Key Lime Tart and a Matcha Passionfruit Mousse Cake. I can't seem to find the photo in my phone but it was refreshing to have a change from chocolate.

We had some time to kill before our Top of the Rock tour, so we headed to Chinatown for a quick visit.

I really love how so many buildings here are vibrant and bright.

I caught this gorgeous sunset while I was there.

Then we headed to Rockefeller Centre.

The view from the Top of the Rock is magical.

A photo can't quite capture the view, but the bright lights are blindingly majestic, and as the cold wind blew through my hair, I felt oddly at peace, as though I could stand there for hours more.

For the first time since we landed, I actually felt hungry just now.

We bought Chinese food back to our Airbnb (and it's so odd but they can't understand our English, nor Chinese...) and as usual the guys ordered too much (lesson learnt: never ever let guys order any food). And now it's late so I should sleep soon.

It cost $32 to go up. It's pricey, as are most tourist attractions, but well worth it for the view.

Saw this shop (and got abandoned by my friends in it) and was so excited but all the Morphe brushes and Nyx Lingerie series that I wanted were not in stock. 😪
